Job Title: Engineering Manager, Plaqad

Job Summary

• We are a fast-growing technology startup seeking an Engineering Manager to spearhead the development and growth of innovative products and ideas within Plaqad, and for Plaqad clients (corporations and brands). Apart from being an individual contributor, you will also be expected to advise Plaqad’s senior management on product development, technology projects and digital transformation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering team, ensuring efficient development and delivery of Plaqad's marketing and communications technology services.
• Collaborate with the product team to define and prioritise technical requirements and features.
• Develop and implement engineering best practices, processes, and methodologies to ensure high-quality software development.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Oversee the technical architecture and design of Plaqad's software products.
• Drive the adoption of new technologies and tools, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the company's technology stack and development processes.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure timely delivery of projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts.
• Contribute to the development of Plaqad's technical strategy and roadmap.
• Ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of Plaqad's software products.

Educational / Professional Qualifications Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Relevant professional certifications, such as Scrum Master or Project Management Professional (PMP), are beneficial.
• Minimum of 8 years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully leading and managing engineering teams in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Experience in developing and delivering media, marketing or communications technology solutions.
• Strong experience with modern software development methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum.
• Hands-on experience with relevant programming languages and frameworks, such as Rails, React, etc.
• Experience with the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in product development
• Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud, and their associated services.

• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to make data-driven decisions and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Deep understanding of software development life cycle and best practices.
• Knowledge of modern software architecture patterns and design principles.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
• Familiarity with current advancements in AI
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience in marketing technology (MarTech) or related domains.
• Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in the tech community.
• Experience with data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
• Familiarity with agile project management tools
• Entrepreneurial mindset and passion for innovation.
