Job Description

• Are you an experienced DevOps Engineer with expertise in Java development? We are looking for someone like you to join our team! In this role, you will be building a robust DevOps environment from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Enhancements & Bug Fixes: Develop and maintain software by enhancing features and fixing bugs.
• Automation Services: Write automation scripts and services to streamline operations.
• DevOps Environment Setup: Establish a comprehensive DevOps environment, integrating various tools and infrastructure as needed.
• Tooling & Pipeline Setup: Set up and manage tools and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
• Operational Support: Oversee the operational aspects of the development environment, ensuring stability and efficiency.
• Project KPIs & Metrics: Understand and work towards achieving project-specific KPIs and metrics.
• Process Definition: Define and implement processes for development, testing, releases, updates, and support within DevOps operations.
• Code Review & Validation: Provide technical expertise in reviewing, verifying, and validating software code.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues using various troubleshooting techniques.
• Monitoring: Continuously monitor project lifecycle processes to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Process Improvement: Develop and implement new processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Automation Advocacy: Promote and build automated processes wherever applicable.
• Incident Management: Perform root cause analysis and manage incidents effectively.
• CI/CD Tool Deployment: Select and deploy appropriate CI/CD tools, aiming to build and improve CI/CD pipelines.
• KPI Measurement: Measure and report on engineering KPIs and developer experience metrics.

Qualifications and Experience

• Java Development: Proficiency in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, MySQL, and DynamoDB.
• DevOps Expertise: Proven experience in setting up and managing a DevOps environment, CI/CD pipelines, and related tooling.
• AWS: Hands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure.

Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies:

• Tooling Expertise: Strong experience with GitLab, Grafana, Prometheus, and optionally Opsgenie.
• Atlassian Tools: Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
• Containerization: Experience with Docker is a plus.
• Flexible & Open-minded: Ability to build and adapt the DevOps environment creatively and without strict adherence to existing blueprints.
• Automation: Strong focus on creating and improving automated processes.
• Problem-solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis.
• Operational Efficiency: Capability to oversee and optimize operational aspects of the development environment.
