Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Location: Sangotedo-Ajah, Lagos

Job Summary

• The Kitchen Assistant provides essential support to chefs and kitchen staff by handling food preparation, cleaning, and organization tasks.
• This role ensures a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment, contributing to the smooth operation of meal preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, measure ingredients, and assist chefs with basic food prep tasks.
• Maintain Cleanliness: Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment regularly. Ensure utensils, pots, and pans are cleaned and stored properly.
• Assist with Dishwashing: Operate dishwashing equipment and manually wash items as needed, ensuring all dishware, glassware, and silverware are spotless.
• Stocking and Inventory: Unload and store food deliveries, rotate stock, and check for expiration dates. Keep kitchen areas stocked with necessary ingredients and supplies.
• Organize Work Areas: Set up and break down kitchen stations, keeping the kitchen organized, tidy, and free from hazards.
• Waste Management: Dispose of waste and recycle materials appropriately, maintaining hygiene and safety in line with food safety regulations.
• Assist with Basic Cooking Tasks: Under the direction of chefs, perform simple cooking or heating tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food service role is beneficial but not required.
• Knowledge of Kitchen Safety and Hygiene: Basic understanding of food safety and cleanliness practices.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 20 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to Detail: Ensure food prep, cleanliness, and organization standards are met at all times.
• Team Player: Strong communication and cooperation skills; willing to help where needed.
• Flexible Schedule: Available to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
