Maintenance Officer at the Place (Smackers Limited)

The Place - We are is a fast growing, world class, and dynamic, multi-billion Nigerian conglomerates, established and managed by a team of professionals with decades of management consulting and accounting experience/ training from Arthur Andersen (now KPMG in Nigeria). We are a profitable player in the QSR sector of the Hospitality industry in Nigeria with great prospects and staff strength of over 1000 employees. Currently, our operations span across 17 locations in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria, with rapid expansion plans to penetrate more locations in the short to medium term.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Maintenance Officer

Location: Wuse, Abuja
Job type: Full-time

About the Role

• We seek an applicant who is self-motivated, has good communication skills and is able to work unsupervised, as well as part of a team.
• Undertake maintenance and repair work for the restaurant building and grounds to ensure it is a safe environment for the organisation. 

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure building systems and machines run smoothly e.g. air conditioning, pumps etc.
• Undertake repair/maintenance work as required to school buildings e.g. replacing locks, windows & light bulbs, patching holes, woodwork repairs
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment
• Estimate repair costs and document repairs undertaken
• Handle, store, and distribute goods and materials
• Move equipment and furniture as required
• Upkeep organisation grounds e.g. mowing, pruning, weeding, planting, disposing of litter
• Assist with company improvements e.g. fencing, paving, and gardening projects
• Complete daily grounds maintenance reports
• Train new employees in grounds-keeping duties.

Qualifications
What we are looking for:

• Experience in general maintenance of grounds/buildings
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and general trade maintenance
• Understanding of machinery/equipment operation relating to building maintenance
• Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills
• Trade background is desirable
• Current driver’s licence and use of own vehicle
• Current NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment    
• You may be required to provide an International Police Check clearance.
