Job Title: Restaurant Manager

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities
Operations Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant, including managing staff, inventory, food preparation, and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food quality standards, and company policies.
  • Handle opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation, locking up the restaurant, and setting up for the next day.

Staff Management:

  • Recruit, hire, and train staff, including servers, chefs, dishwashers, and other personnel.
  • Schedule shifts and ensure adequate staffing levels during peak hours.
  • Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and offer professional development opportunities.
  • Handle staff conflicts, complaints, and disciplinary actions in a professional manner.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure an excellent dining experience for guests by maintaining high standards of service and resolving customer complaints or issues promptly.
  • Monitor and respond to customer feedback, both in-person and through online reviews, to improve service quality.
  • Develop strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and build repeat business.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee the restaurant's budget, including controlling costs for food, beverages, labor, and supplies.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including profit and loss statements.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
  • Handle cash flow management, including making bank deposits and ensuring accurate accounting.

Inventory and Supply Management:

  • Maintain stock levels of food, beverages, and supplies, ordering as needed.
  • Work with suppliers to negotiate prices and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Monitor inventory usage to prevent waste and spoilage.

Marketing and Promotions:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase the restaurant’s visibility and attract customers.
  • Plan and execute promotions, special events, and seasonal menus.
  • Manage social media accounts and engage with customers online to boost restaurant presence.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure that all health and safety standards are maintained, including food safety protocols and cleanliness.
  • Monitor the sanitation of the kitchen, dining area, and restroom facilities.
  • Stay updated on local and national regulations related to food service and ensure the restaurant is compliant.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead by example, motivating and inspiring the team to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Foster a positive work culture and encourage teamwork and collaboration.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and provide support where necessary.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: A Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field is preferred but not always required.
  • Experience: Several years of experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry, with a proven track record of management.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, customers, and suppliers.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage and motivate a team, ensuring that all employees work efficiently and provide excellent service.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in managing budgets, payroll, and cost control.
  • Customer Service: A commitment to providing exceptional service and handling customer complaints in a professional manner.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Time Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
