Job Summary

• The is responsible for leading the coverage and analysis of political news and events for a prominent media conglomerate.
• This role requires an experienced journalist with a deep understanding of the political landscape, the ability to provide insightful  commentary and analysis, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality, impactful content across multiple platforms.
• The successful candidate will oversee a team of reporters and researchers, ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of political news, while also contributing to the development of innovative content strategies that engage the target audience.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary authority on political news and events, providing strategic direction and oversight for the coverage of elections, legislative processes, policy decisions, and other significant political developments.
• Lead a team of political reporters, researchers, and analysts, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of in-depth, analytical, and thought-provoking content that informs and engages the audience.
• Collaborate with the news and editorial teams to develop and implement comprehensive content strategies that effectively cover political stories, leverage multimedia formats, and drive audience engagement across linear, digital, and social media platforms.
• Maintain a deep understanding of the political landscape, including the key
  players, policy Issues and emerging trends, and leverage this knowledge to provide insightful commentary and analysis that enhances the organization's reputation as a trusted source of political news.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of political sources, including elected officials, government agencies, advocacy groups, and other key stakeholders, to stay ahead of breaking news and secure exclusive content.
• Oversee the research, fact-checking, and editorial processes to ensure the highest standards of journalistic integrity and accuracy in the political coverage.
• Contribute to the overall editorial vision and strategic direction of the organization, offering recommendations and insights to enhance the media conglomerate's market position and influence within the political news landscape.
• Serve as a public ambassador for the organization, representing the media conglomerate in various forums, including industry events, public appearances, and media interviews.
• Mentor and develop the political reporting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth.
• Manage the budgets and resources allocated to the political news coverage, ensuring the efficient and effective utilization of funds to support the delivery of high-quality content.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a political journalist or editor, with a proven track record of leading successful political news coverage and analysis.
• Demonstrated expertise in political reporting, including a deep understanding
  of government structures, policy-making processes, and the dynamics of the political landscape.
• Excellent journalistic skills, including research, interviewing, and analytical capabilities, with the ability to provide insightful and engaging commentary on complex political issues.
• Strong editorial judgment, decision-making skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast- paced, deadline-driven news environment.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of political sources and industry partners.
• Proficiency in utilizing various media technologies and platforms to deliver compelling and impactful political content.
• Commitment to upholding the highest standards of journalistic integrity, ethics, and objectivity.
