Job Title: Legal Advisor

Location: Lagos

Description 

• We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Consultant to provide expert legal advice and guidance on various issues affecting our business, including contracts, compliance, corporate governance, and risk management. This is a consultancy role, ideal for a legal professional who will work with us on a project or retainer basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal consultancy to the company on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, contracts, and risk management.
• Advise on complex legal matters, including business disputes, mergers, acquisitions, and intellectual property.
• Review and draft contracts, agreements, and other legal documents as required.
• Offer strategic legal advice to senior management on navigating legal risks and liabilities.
• Conduct legal research to support business operations and decision-making.
• Help develop internal policies, ensuring they are in line with relevant laws and industry regulations.
• Provide guidance on employment law, tax compliance, and other legal matters as needed.
• Monitor changes in legislation and ensure the business remains compliant with evolving legal standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) and a Legal Practice Certificate (BL) (for Nigerian applicants).
• Proven experience as a Legal Consultant, Legal Advisor, or in a similar external advisory role.
• Strong expertise in corporate law, contracts, intellectual property, compliance, and risk management.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to provide clear, actionable legal advice to non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.

Consultancy Terms

• This is a consultancy role; the selected consultant will work with us on a project or retainer basis.
• The consultant will not be an employee but will be engaged to provide specific legal services as needed.
• Compensation and scope of work will be discussed based on the consultant’s expertise and agreed terms.
