African Foundries Limited (AFL) was established to support the accelerating growth in Nigeria by making the country self-reliant for steel rebars and eliminating its dependence on imported rebars. AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million-ton per year capacity for high strength rebars and allied products.

Brief Job Description with Purpose of role

• As a Teemer, you will be responsible for handling the teeming process in Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) operations.
• Your key responsibilities will include ensuring smooth and efficient casting operations, maintaining equipment, andupholding safety and quality standards.
• You will play a crucial role in managing ladle flow, controlling casting parameters, and ensuring defect-free billetproduction.

Key Responsibilities
Teeming and Casting Operations:

• Operate and control theteeming processduring CCM operations.
• Ensuredefect-free billet castingthrough proper temperature and flow control.
• Monitorcasting parametersand adjust as required for smooth operations.

Slide Gate and Ladle Management:

• Operate and maintain theSlide Gate mechanismto regulate molten metal flow.
• Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting ofladle refractory systems.
• PerformOxygen Lancingin Ladle Slide Gate nozzles to ensure smooth metal flow.

Quality & Safety Compliance:

• Adhere tostandard operating procedures (SOPs)for teeming operations.
• Ensuresafety complianceduring handling of molten metal.
• Conduct regulartemperature measurementsof molten metal to maintain casting quality.

Breakdown Handling & Preventive Maintenance:

• Identify and troubleshootCCM casting issuesrelated to teeming operations.
• Work closely with themaintenance teamto resolve Slide Gate and ladle refractory problems.
• Keep detailed records ofoperational parameters and maintenance activities.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Academic qualification:

• Hands on Experience on the job is amust
• HND / B.Eng. in Mechanical / Metallurgy Engineering.
• Science graduates with relevantexperience may also apply.

Experience:

• Min 10 years Experience as Teemer Man

Core Functional Experience:

• Independent Casting:Should beable to cast heat independently,ensuring smooth operations.
• Slide Gate Mechanism:Expertisein Slide Gate operation,maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Ladle Refractory Operation:Understanding of ladle refractorymaintenance and performanceoptimization.
• Temperature Measurement:Knowledge of temperaturemeasurement techniques for moltenmetal.
• Oxygen Lancing:Experience inOxygen Lancing for Ladle Slide Gatenozzle maintenance and opening.
