Job Title: Head, Underwriting

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive underwriting strategies aligned with the company's overall business goals.
• Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to inform underwriting policies.
• Establish risk appetite and underwriting guidelines for different product lines.
• Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, providing coaching and performance feedback.
• Recruit, hire, and develop high-performing underwriting talent.
• Delegate underwriting authority and manage workload distribution across the team.
• Review complex cases and make critical underwriting decisions on new business and renewals.
• Assess the risk profile of potential clients using various data sources and analytical tools.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks through appropriate policy terms and pricing.
• Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Monitor underwriting activities for compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Implement robust quality control measures to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Work closely with sales teams to identify and secure profitable business opportunities.
• Collaborate with actuarial and pricing teams to develop competitive product offerings.
• Communicate underwriting policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders. Skills
