We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Reality TV Show Scriptwriter

Locations: Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara
Job type: Full Time (Onsite)

Position Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Reality TV Show Scriptwriter who will be responsible for crafting engaging and original storylines for each episode of an anticipated 24 month project and TV series titled, ‘The Hustle; an innovative reality TV show that will empower diverse youth from Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto states; ii) enhance their entrepreneurial skills through positive action; and iii) address some of the root causes of conflict and poverty in the region which will all contribute to improved economic empowerment and stronger social cohesion.
  • The programme will equip young people with the skills and opportunities to create sustainable businesses, while encouraging collaboration across ethnic, religious and social divides to promote a positive image of the youth in these states.
  • By addressing some of the root causes of conflict and poverty in the region, The Hustle seeks to promote economic empowerment and social cohesion, while building a new positive perception of youth.

Roles and Responsibilities
Developing Compelling Narratives:

  • Crafting engaging and original storylines for each episode, ensuring they align with the overall show concept and target audience.
  • Developing and maintaining character arcs for key contestants, highlighting their personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations.
  • Creating dramatic tension and suspense throughout each episode.

Writing Engaging Dialogue:

  • Writing natural and authentic dialogue for contestants and hosts that reflects their personalities and the show's tone.
  • Ensuring dialogue is concise, impactful, and contributes to the overall narrative.

Script Formatting & Delivery:

  • Formatting scripts according to industry standards (e.g., industry standard screenplay format).
  • Delivering scripts on time and within budget, adhering to agreed-upon deadlines.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborating closely with the production team, including producers, directors, and editors.
  • Participating in creative brainstorming sessions and providing input on story ideas and character development.
  • Incorporating feedback and revisions effectively.

Maintaining Brand Consistency:

  • Ensuring the script adheres to the overall brand identity and tone of the reality show.

Research & Development:

  • Conducting research on relevant topics and trends to ensure the show remains fresh and engaging.

Deliverables

  • Episode Scripts: Deliver completed scripts for each episode according to the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Storyboards/Treatment: May be required to develop storyboards or treatments for key scenes or episodes.
  • Character Profiles: Develop detailed character profiles for key contestants.
  • Revisions: Incorporate revisions and feedback from the production team effectively.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Film/Television, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Screenwriting, Television Writing, or a related field (preferred but not always required).
  • Formal training in screenwriting, such as workshops, seminars, or online courses.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a TV scriptwriter, with a strong portfolio demonstrating successful work on reality television shows.
  • In-depth knowledge of reality TV formats, storytelling techniques, and audience engagement.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Passion for reality television and a strong understanding of the target audience.

Other Relevant Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of the local languages will be an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to youth empowerment and community development.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail;
