Job Title: Cook

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Position Overview

• Competent and qualified vessel Cook with strong abilities, and an unwavering commitment to safety. The Cook will be responsible for preparing the menu and making food for the crew onboard the vessel.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning and preparing meals for crew members and other personnel onboard the vessel, considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
• Creating varied menus that cater to crew needs, while ensuring meals are balanced and satisfying.
• Maintaining stock levels of food and kitchen supplies in the vessel, and ensuring timely replenishment during voyages.
• Adhering to strict hygiene and sanitation standards to prevent foodborne illnesses, following maritime regulations and guidelines.
• Keeping the galley (kitchen) clean, organized, and safe, including regular cleaning of equipment and surfaces.
• Managing food costs within the allocated budget, tracking expenses, maintaining records related to food inventory, and reporting as necessary. 
• Working closely with other crew members to coordinate meal times and accommodate special requests.

Skills & Qualifications

• Valid Cook License and relevant certifications (STCW, etc.).
• A minimum of 2 years experience as a Vessel Cook or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of maritime regulations, navigation, safety protocols and procedures.
• Effective communication skills to effectively manage a diverse crew. Experience working onboard security vessels is preferred.
