We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Packaging Development Manager

Location: Ogun

Description 

• Manage all packaging development initiatives with the Group Packaging team, local Marketing team and external strategic partners.
• Coordinate and facilitate plant trials and new packaging development start-up, working with vendors/suppliers.
• Ensure that all packaging materials meant for production use are suitable and certified okay.
• Manage and oversee packaging test, shelf life testing, label legal claims and packaging specifications.
• Ensure that the M&E teams as well as other team members receive development initiatives feedback regularly.
• Ensure periodic verification/calibration of all packaging machines in the factory with the M&E team for consistency in packaging quality, control of variances, and production efficiency.
• Propose continuously new packaging concepts with a view on new materials, new technologies, and new suppliers
• Carry out periodic online quality checks/tests and advise the production team to make adjustments and preventive/corrective measures where necessary for conformity to packaging specifications.
• Ensure that samples of the finished products are taken for packaging analyses and evaluate the results before the products are released to trade.
• Make available a packaging dummy for NAFDAC packaging verification before the commercial run
• Manage and maintain records of all bar code allocation for all packaging elements.
• Verify all packaging artwork, KLD adaptation and PIFA for all vendors/suppliers prior to color cylinder approval.
• Monitor packaging-related patents of major competitors.
• Carry out any assigned food safety jobs by the head of the department
• Prevent the introduction of food safety hazards into the product when carrying out assigned job.
• Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy on assigned jobs
• Ensure awareness, understanding and application of departmental /process QHSE objectives;
• Ensure awareness of your contribution to the effectiveness of the QHSE Management Systems, including the benefits of improved performance including associated opportunities for improvement of the processes assigned;
• Ensure awareness of the implications of not conforming with the Company QHSE Management Systems requirements including associated risks for the process assigned
• Implement and comply with QHSE requirements relating to environmental aspects and impacts and other policies, procedures and /or regulations applicable to assigned jobs
• Understand and apply the intent of the QHSE policy to assigned jobs
• Understand the significant environmental aspects and related actual or potential impacts associated with their work, and the environmental benefits of improved personal performance
• Understand roles and responsibilities and the importance of conformity with the QHSE requirements.
• Understand the potential consequences of departure from specified QHSE procedures or legal requirements
