We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Business Development Lead

Location: Lagos

Position Summary

  • We are looking for a Business Development Lead who is entrepreneurial, growth-driven, and passionate about building and scaling revenue models for Pulse Picks. The ideal candidate will be critical in shaping Pulse Picks’ commercial success by developing, testing, and executing revenue-generating strategies. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of digital business models, strategic partnerships, e-commerce, and brand collaborations.
  • As a Business Development Lead, you will work closely with internal teams to identify monetisation opportunities, build strategic partnerships, and structure innovative business models that align with Pulse Picks’ vision. You will also lead the development of new revenue streams that extend beyond content commerce, including membership models, product licensing, and data-driven insights solutions for brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Pulse Picks’ business strategy focusing on sustainable revenue growth.
  • Identify and execute new business models for monetisation, including affiliate partnerships, brand sponsorships, direct-to-consumer (D2C) commerce, and membership programs.
  • Build and manage relationships with brands, e-commerce partners, and affiliate networks to drive revenue.
  • Lead the negotiation and closing of high-value partnerships that align with Pulse Picks’ growth objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and competitor analysis to identify new monetisation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with content, product, and marketing teams to optimise the user journey and conversion funnel for revenue growth.
  • Develop and execute a premium advertising and sponsorship model for brands looking to leverage Pulse Picks’ audience.
  • Explore licensing opportunities for Pulse Picks’ content and insights that provide value to external brands and agencies.
  • Expand Pulse Picks’ D2C offerings by identifying new product categories and evaluating consumer demand.
  • Develop and implement a scalable direct-to-consumer (D2C) strategy, including sourcing, pricing, logistics, and customer experience optimisation.
  • Build a business case for D2C scalability, outlining potential market expansion, revenue projections, and cost structures.
  • Define key business metrics and regularly track revenue performance, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Work closely with finance and operations teams to ensure new business ventures are financially viable and operationally feasible.
  • Test, iterate, and refine business strategies to align with evolving market trends and consumer behaviour.
  • Develop and present revenue forecasts, business cases, and strategic growth plans to senior management.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in business development, revenue strategy, or strategic partnerships within digital media, content commerce, or e-commerce industries.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful business models and revenue strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and implement growth opportunities effectively.
  • Deep understanding of affiliate marketing, brand sponsorships, subscription models, and data-driven business solutions.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive business initiatives from ideation to execution.
  • Strong understanding of consumer behaviour, digital monetisation strategies, and emerging business trends.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, data analysis, and revenue forecasting.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong ability to test, iterate, and scale new business opportunities.
