Qatar Charity is a Doha-based non-governmental organization founded in 1992 in accordance with the laws and regulations governing charitable work in the State of Qatar. The Qatari society was expressing a deep willingness to contribute to the international solidarity chain and to participate in addressing the most important development and humanitarian challenges faced by vulnerable communities around the world. This willingness was derived from the Qatari society’s values, principles and cultural heritage and Qatar Charity came as the institutional solution that would cater to it. Initially founded to provide life-saving assistance to children affected by conflicts or natural disasters, Qatar Charity then expanded its areas of expertise to include various humanitarian and development aid fields, providing relief and assistance to more than 110 million beneficiaries worldwide. With funding from Qatar, Qatar Charity is collaborating with the government of Nigeria (GON) to support vulnerable communities in achieving progress and prosperity by providing adequate support for vulnerable communities through robust social welfare systems and related services in various states within Nigeria.Qatar Charity Nigeria Country Office has over 3,500 projects in different intervention areas namely: Education and Culture, Health, Water, economic empowerment, social housing, social care, food security, and Emergency Relief projects.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Assistant Social Welfare Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full Time

Job Description

  • The Officer will be a full-time employee reporting to Social Welfare office on orphan’s sponsorship requirements.
  • (S)He will be responsible for studying different social cases following the social
  • research methodology.
  • (S)He will also be responsible for overseeing delivery of services accredited to beneficiaries in accordance with the highest professional standards.
  • Based on QC mechanisms for reports, data collection, and preservation, (S)He will also be responsible for providing information and prepare reports on his achievements and that of the beneficiaries under his/her care.
  • Dailly follow up with the sponsored persons (all sponsorship categories) to ensure their wellbeing and finding solutions to their complaints.
  • Implements activity plans and monitors, observes, and interacts with children; cares for physical needs of children including feeding, diapering toileting, dressing, and administering medication.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all policies, systems, and procedures in place in Qatar Charity.
  • Understand social and cultural reality, and respect customs and traditions of the society he works for.
  • Executing duties and responsibilities in a prudent and professional manner and as specified in the job description.
  • Prepare case studies based on social research methodology and guidance of the sponsorship and social welfare officer.
  • Submit studied case to the sponsorship and social welfare officer and support him with additional information on these cases whenever needed.
  • Follow-up preparation of case files according to lists of documents required by QC,and to ensure the authenticity of all documents submitted.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information on the cases studied, and fully committed to use such information in a professional way.
  • Prepare and implement the periodic Action Plan (weekly/monthly) under supervision of the sponsorship and social welfare officer.
  • Data entry of all sponsored persons details specified under their supervisor.
  • Monitor provision of the required services to beneficiaries under his supervision and in accordance with QC general monitoring framework and the timeline approved by his supervisor.
  • Monitor direct receipt of beneficiary allowances and ensure that they are on time and in the specified amounts, prepare and submit beneficiary lists to his supervisor officer.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders to better serve provision of services to beneficiaries who supervises.
  • Prepare reports for individual beneficiaries according to categories and reporting cycle, and to ensure that all data contained in the reports are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Facilitate communication or access to beneficiaries for the purpose of follow up, monitoring or evaluation.
  • Prepare quarterly narrative reports listing various achievements that have been made to provide services to different supervised groups.
  • Provide necessary information about the supervised beneficiaries upon request either from the country office or headquarters. 

Qualifications

  • University Degree in one of the following disciplines: Sociology, Social Service, and any other Social Science course.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Fluency in Arabic (as a prerequisite for the job, both speaking and reading),
  • Priority is given to those who are fluent in the Arabic language.
  • Possess good communication skills.
  • High capacities in social networking.
  • Skills in time management and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal skills to ensure effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners including governmental institutions.
  • Ability for teamwork and problem solving oriented.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, achieve results and work with minimal day to day supervision.
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
  • Excellent level of reading, writing, and speaking English language.
  • Additional Knowledge and experiences
  • Experience of not less than three years in social supervision.
