Job Description

• We are seeking a motivated Tax/Accounting Associate to join our growing team. 
• An ideal candidate for this role will be focused on maintaining financial records, reports, and accounts, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with budget and close processes

Responsibilities

• Recording transactions while ensuring computing and remittance of all accompanying tax obligations to ensure compliance with relevant tax laws.
• Maintaining an accurate record of financial transactions by assisting in updating and maintaining the general ledger and reconciliation of entries into the accounting system.
• Prepare and maintain schedules for filing federal, state, and local tax returns in compliance with regulations, ensuring maintenance of accurate tax records and documentation for audit readiness and regulatory reviews purposes.
• Assist in tax research and analysis to support tax planning strategies and tax reporting processes including monthly, quarterly, and annual filings.
• Reconciling tax accounts and resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate reporting of financial records.
• Assist in responding to tax inquiries from regulatory authorities by staying updated on tax laws, changes, and best practices to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with internal finance and accounting teams to support overall operations and ensure timely reporting of financials to senior management.
• Updating other financial records and schedules e.g. fixed asset register and maintaining the necessary books of accounts by reconciling reports to third-party records such e.g. bank statements.
• Supporting month-end, year-end closure processes and all other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned to you by your line manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Strong double-entry skills and sound knowledge of taxation and tax accounting is an added advantage
• At least 3 years of tax accounting experience.
• Knowledge of IFRS and other relevant accounting frameworks necessary for accurate financial reporting.
• Relevant certifications in Taxation and Accounting is an added advantage (CITN, ICAN)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) etc.
• Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, comfortable taking initiative.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to set and meet deadlines, and able to get work done.
