The Dog Food Shop Limited is a bulk distribution / retail project for food and non-food products for pet animals.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Company Van / Truck Driver

Location: Surulere, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Loading, transporting, and delivering items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner;
• Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied;
• Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times;
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance and ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving;
• Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times;
• Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles;
• Communicating with dispatchers, drivers and other team members to make deliveries;
• Meeting delivery deadlines;
• Obtaining client or customer signatures when needed;
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules;
• Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts;
• Comply with driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures;
• Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations;
• Securing goods and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle;
• Obeying and following applicable traffic laws;
• Report defects, accidents or violations.

Requirements

• A valid driver’s license
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a driver
• Knowledge of how to handle materials safely;
• Familiarity with using navigation systems;
• Time management to ensure deliveries are made on schedule;
• Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination to stay safe while driving;
• Physical ability to load and unload heavy cargo;
• Long-distance driving;
• Resides in Surulere or environs;
• Must be adaptable to corporate governance.
