Yudala - Nigeria's first online and offline retail chain poised to transform and redefine e-commerce in the country and Africa, Yudala, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, scheme to create two million jobs has reverberated the importance of healthy-living through an event held at the Nation Stadium, Surulere, recently to educate and sensitize Nigerians on the health benefits of exercises and healthy-living tips.
The event, "Gyming with the Stars" which was its debut and which also marked the unveiling of Yuboss, an entrepreneur scheme targeted at jobs and wealth creation for Nigerians in partnership with foremost financial institution, Access Bank Plc., and telecommunications giants, Airtel; was an exercise session that witnessed thousands of Nigerians with a ferocious crave to work-out with Nigeria’s finest celebrities such as Nyanya, Naeto C and the father of comedy, Ali Baba.
The event which was graced by a throng began by 7am and witnessed work-out and light jogging sessions anchored by fitness instructors and ace comedian Ali Baba who doubled as compere and held the crowd spell-bound with his rib-cracking jokes.
The idea was born out of Yudala’s strong concerns for good health and its desire to establish a chain of healthy entrepreneurs through its Yuboss channel, encouraging them to stay healthy even as they make wealth, coupled with the veracity that exercises have been proven to be effective in the prevention and resistance of certain illnesses which can impact negatively on the efficacy of people at their various work environments.
Speaking on health at the event, Julie Nwosu, the Health Manager, Yudala opined that Nigerians are lagging in things pertaining to health. “We take things for granted. We neglect the things we should do in terms of diet and exercising. We need to be more proactive in eating right and in exercising if we really want to take charge of our health. There is a lot more to be done to have a healthy life,” she said.
According to the Vice President, retail, Yudala, Stanley Uzoechina; “You know that if you are not healthy you can’t make it. In this 21st century, health is a life style and should be seen as such. You need to make up your mind to do it. Yudala teaches its people to live healthy by giving them health tips, encouraging them to eat healthy in order for them to be well to make money. It’s about a revolution to create an opportunity for 2million Nigerians to become entrepreneurs.”
Speaking earlier as a means of educating participants, Dave Ibelegbu, President, Yudala said that: “Yudala is a movement, it is a transformation. It is something that has been set up to empower the youths, that’s why in partnership with Access Bank, one of the biggest financial Company in this country, Airtel, one of the giants in the telecom, we have set up another movement called the Yuboss. Yuboss is an entrepreneurial empowerment scheme which is set up to empower people to create wealth and also ensure that you have health. In partnership with these ‘giants we want to create up to 2million jobs for Nigerians’
How it works
According to the President, You don’t need to invest a kobo; all you need to do is go online. Your name will be recorded and you’ll be in Yudala’s database. All you do is to sell any of the products. You log on to your site, get the products and sell your customers and we will pay you a commission of 40% from what you have sold.
Also speaking at the event, Executive Director, Personal Banking at Access Bank, Victor Etiokwu who represented the Group MD, Herbert Wigwe disclosed the shared optimism and commitment of the bank in partnering with Yudala to make the YUBOSS scheme a success.
Echoing similar line of thought, Tawa Bolarin, Director, Airtel Nigeria, who stood in for the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, Segun Ogunsanya noted that the zero investment nature of YUBOSS resonates with Airtel’s tradition of offering Nigerians huge value for less, while urging more Nigerians to sign up for the scheme.
Performing at the event were ace artistes Iyanya and Naeto C, thrilling the crowd to several hit songs from their collections. The event also witnessed dance competitions in which smart phones were given-away and auction sales on a wide range of genuine products from the biggest brands: Smart phones, Computers, Laptops, IT equipment, Consumer Electronics and Lifestyle goods, with bidding starting from over 90% off actual product prices. Star products of the day were the Phillips Air Fryer and Smoothies, latest healthy lifestyle products from the brand.
