Medical Director / CEO at Federal Medical Centre, Ebute-Metta

The Federal Medical Centre (formerly called the Nigerian Railway Hospital) was commissioned on 23rd November, 1964 by the then president, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe of blessed memory. It was established solely to cater for the medical needs of the workers of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and their families. Between 1967 -1970, during the Nigerian Civil War, the hospital was annexed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) where wounded soldiers were catered for.

Again, between 1984 and 1995, the hospital served as a referral Centre for parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Transport and Aviation initially offering free medical services to the staff of the railways.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Director is the Head/Chief Executive of the institution. He is accountable to the Board of Management and Honourable Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare
• The Medical Director is charged with responsibility of the execution of policies and matters affecting the day-to-day management of the hospital.

Requirements
Interested Candidates must have the following qualifications:

• Candidate must be a Medical or Dental Practitioner registered with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) with not less than twelve (12) years post-graduation
• Candidate must possess a current practicing License from MDCN
• Candidate must be Fellow of either National Postgraduate Medical
• College of Nigeria or West African Postgraduate Medical College, or its equivalent, registered by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria
• Candidate must have been a Consultant for a minimum of Five (5) years
• Candidate must be medically fit (Attached Evidence)
• Candidate must be of proven good character and integrity
• Evidence of Medical Researches is an added advantag
• Administative qualification and experience are added advantages
• Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is added advantage
• Attraction of funded grants by individual candidate is an added advantage.

Salary and Allowances

• Salary and allowances will be in accordance with the Public Service Salary Structure for this category of Officer.
