Job Title: Head of Operations

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Key Responsibilities

• Overall Operations Management: Oversee the entire operations of the rice milling company, ensuring efficient and effective production, processing, and delivery of high-quality rice products.
• Production Planning and Management: Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and processes to meet customer demand, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
• Supply Chain Management: Manage the supply chain, including procurement of raw materials (paddy rice), management of inventory, and logistics.
• Quality Control and Assurance: Ensure that all products meet the company's quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
• Maintenance and Asset Management: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all equipment, machinery, and facilities to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Implement and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and practices to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
• Team Management and Development: Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing operations team, including supervisors, technicians, and production staff.
• Budgeting and Cost Control: Manage operational budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Stakeholder Management: Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g., sales, procurement, finance) and external stakeholders (e.g., suppliers, customers, regulatory bodies).
• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Production Volume and Quality: Meet or exceed production targets while maintaining high-quality products.
• Operational Efficiency: Achieve efficient use of resources, including labor, energy, and raw materials.
• Cost Control: Manage operational costs within budget and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, with minimal incidents and accidents.
• Customer Satisfaction: Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through timely delivery of high-quality products.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, operations management, agriculture).
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the food processing or manufacturing industry.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in team management and development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in process improvement and cost control.
• Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and food safety regulations.
• Familiarity with operational software and systems, such as ERP, CRM, and SCADA.
