We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Solar Energy Solutions Technical Specialist

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are looking for a Solar Energy Solutions Technical Specialist with strong sales and marketing expertise to drive business growth in Nigeria’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector. 
  • The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of solar energy solutions, technical system design, and sales strategies. 
  • They will play a key role in identifying, developing, and executing solar projects for corporate clients, industrial facilities, and large-scale businesses, helping them transition to clean, reliable, and cost-effective energy solutions.
  • This role requires technical proficiency in solar energy systems, sales acumen, and an understanding of Nigeria’s energy market, regulatory framework, and financing models.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for solar PV solutions in the C&I sector.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial and industrial clients, EPC contractors, real estate developers, and key stakeholders.
  • Conduct market research to analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and potential opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets
  • Deliver technical sales presentations to corporate clients, emphasizing the financial and operational benefits of solar solutions.
  • Lead contract negotiations and close high-value deals with C&I customers.
  • Support clients in energy transition planning, focusing on solar PV, hybrid energy systems, and battery storage solutions.

Technical Expertise & Solution Design:

  • Conduct site assessments, energy audits, and feasibility studies for C&I solar projects.
  • Design and size solar PV systems for commercial and industrial applications, ensuring optimal efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed technical proposals, system layouts, yield simulations, and financial models.
  • Work with engineering teams to develop grid-tied, hybrid, and off-grid solar power solutions.
  • Analyze load profiles, energy consumption data, and financial feasibility for solar projects.
  • Stay up-to-date on solar technology advancements, battery storage, and Nigerian energy policies.

Marketing & Brand Development:

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote solar solutions in the C&I sector.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create brochures, case studies, whitepapers, and digital content.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, exhibitions, and networking events to enhance brand visibility.
  • Conduct technical workshops, webinars, and training sessions for potential clients and industry partners.

Project Management & Implementation Support:

  • Collaborate with project teams during the design, procurement, and installation phases to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during project commissioning and post-installation.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) guidelines, SON standards, and local solar industry regulations.

Key Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Management, or a related field.
  • Certifications in solar PV system design, energy management, or sales (e.g., NABCEP, SEI, PMP, LEED) are an advantage.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in solar energy solutions, with a focus on the C&I sector in Nigeria.
  • Proven track record in B2B sales, business development, and marketing of solar solutions.
  • Experience in technical pre-sales, proposal development, and financing models for solar projects.
  • Hands-on experience with solar design tools (PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, HOMER, etc.).

Skills & Competencies:
Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of solar PV technology, inverters, energy storage systems, and net metering.
  • Ability to conduct energy audits, analyze load profiles, and develop financial models for solar investments.
  • Familiarity with hybrid solar-diesel and off-grid solutions for C&I applications.

Sales & Marketing Skills:

  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and client engagement skills.
  • Ability to develop compelling value propositions tailored to the Nigerian energy market.
  • Experience in digital marketing strategies for renewable energy solutions.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Ability to evaluate site conditions, analyze technical data, and develop cost-effective solar solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills for ROI calculations, payback period analysis, and project risk assessment.

Project Management & Execution:

  • Experience working with solar EPC firms, developers, and regulators in Nigeria.
  • Familiarity with power purchase agreements (PPAs), leasing models, and third-party solar financing.

Regulatory & Market Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of Nigeria’s electricity regulations, tariffs, and incentives for solar projects.
  • Experience dealing with DISCOs, GENCOs, NERC, and REA (Rural Electrification Agency).

Networking & Industry Engagement:

  • Strong network in the solar, energy, and industrial sector in Nigeria.
  • Active participation in renewable energy associations, trade fairs, and business forums.
