We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Reports To: General Manager/Director of HR
Industry: Steel Manufacturing

Job Summary

  • The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes in a steel manufacturing environment. 
  • This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with labor laws, managing employee relations, talent acquisition, training & development, performance management, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:

  • Develop and implement effective hiring strategies to attract skilled professionals in the steel industry.
  • Collaborate with department heads to understand manpower needs and fill vacancies timely.
  • Conduct interviews, manage onboarding, and ensure a smooth induction process.

Employee Relations & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain a positive employee-employer relationship and boost workplace morale.

Training & Development:

  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance workforce skills.
  • Conduct leadership development initiatives and succession planning.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Performance Management:

  • Design and Oversee performance appraisal systems.
  • Work closely with managers to provide feedback and support employee growth.
  • Identify high-potential employees and develop career progression plans.

Compensation & Benefits Administration:

  • Ensure fair and competitive salary structures aligned with industry standards.
  • Manage payroll processing in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Oversee employee benefits, insurance, and welfare programs.

Health, Safety & Welfare:

  • Collaborate with safety officers to implement workplace safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Promote employee well-being initiatives.

HR Policy & Strategy Development:

  • Develop and update HR policies in line with business goals and legal requirements.
  • Advise management on best HR practices and workforce planning strategies.
  • Drive organizational change management initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of HR experience, preferably in the manufacturing or steel industry.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in unionized environments and handling labor negotiations.
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations in the steel industry.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Plant/factory based.
  • May involve working beyond standard hours as required.
