Job Title: Welder / Filter Fabrication Specialist

Job Summary

• The Welder/Filter Fabrication Specialist is responsible for welding and fabricating filter components using various welding techniques. 
• This position requires expertise in welding processes, reading blueprints, and an understanding of filter system designs to create high-quality, functional components. 
• The specialist will work closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure that fabricated parts meet specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Filter System Fabrication: Fabricate and weld parts for filters, including housings, frames, and support structures, based on technical specifications.
• Welding Operations: Perform welding using a variety of techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) on metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and diagrams to ensure proper dimensions, tolerances, and material types for each filter component.
• Assembly of Filter Units: Assemble filter components into finished products, ensuring proper alignment and secure connections between parts.
• Inspection of Welds and Components: Inspect welds and finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and are free from defects, such as cracks or porosity.
• Customization of Filters: Modify or customize filter units based on project requirements, such as adjusting dimensions or adding special features for specific applications.
• Ensure Material Quality: Select and prepare materials, ensuring that the proper alloys, thickness, and finishes are used for the filter components.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment, including wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaboration with Design Teams: Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to discuss and solve fabrication challenges, ensuring the design intent is properly executed in the finished product.
• Maintenance of Tools & Equipment: Maintain and clean welding and fabrication equipment, ensuring all tools are in proper working condition.
• Record Keeping: Document the work completed, including material usage, hours worked, and any deviations from the planned design.

Requirements
Education & Certifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (preferably with some technical training in welding or fabrication).
• Certification: Welding certification, such as those from the American Welding Society (AWS), or equivalent, is preferred.
• Specialized Training: Additional training in filter system design or fabrication may be beneficial.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven Welding Experience: Previous experience in welding, particularly in metal fabrication and the production of complex filter components.
• Knowledge of Filter Systems: Basic understanding of the function, design, and components of filter systems in various applications (e.g., air, water, or industrial filtration).
• Technical Proficiency: Ability to operate various welding machines (MIG, TIG, Stick) and other metalworking equipment.
• Blueprint and Specification Reading: Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
• Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail in welding and assembling filter components.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting materials, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot fabrication issues and adapt designs or techniques to meet project requirements.
• Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, often with engineers and other fabricators.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Specialized Welding Techniques: Experience with high-precision welding processes (e.g., TIG welding) on materials like stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys.
• Familiarity with Filter Assembly: Experience working with or assembling filters, especially in industrial or commercial settings (e.g., air, water, or oil filtration systems).
• Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to understand and work with mechanical designs, including filters and other industrial systems.

Work Environment:

• Conditions: The work is typically performed in fabrication shops, manufacturing facilities, or construction sites. Work may involve exposure to welding fumes, noise, and high temperatures.
• Tools Used: Welding machines (MIG, TIG, Stick), grinders, cutting tools, and other metalworking equipment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy components (up to 50 lbs or more).
• Must be able to work in various physical positions, including standing, bending, or kneeling for long periods.
• Must have good vision (with or without correction) to detect flaws in welds and materials.

Salary
N100,000 - N150,000 / month.
