We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Lead, Commercial and Business Development (Oil & Gas)

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Grade Level: Manager
Reports To: Managing Director

Overview

  • We are seeking a seasoned commercial leader with a strong track record in the oil and gas industry, particularly in Nigeria or similar African markets.
  • The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of proven experience in business development, commercial leadership, partnerships, or sales—preferably having transitioned from a technical to a commercial career within the energy sector.
  • This role is critical to shaping and driving our commercial strategy, expanding our market presence, and forging high-impact partnerships that deliver tangible business value.

Who We’re Looking for
An expert in business growth and deal-making in the oil and gas space. Someone who has:

  • Led commercial or business development teams
  • Worked closely with C-suite executives, regulators, and financiers
  • Negotiated large contracts and managed complex deals
  • Developed and closed investment and project finance agreements
  • Deep insight into the Nigerian energy market dynamics

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s commercial and business development strategies
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new gas assets and midstream energy opportunities
  • Oversee commercial performance and drive profitability across products and services
  • Lead and mentor the commercial/business development team
  • Build strategic partnerships, manage client relationships, and negotiate key contracts
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions
  • Collaborate with product and marketing teams to ensure alignment with customer needs
  • Engage with regulatory bodies and maintain compliance with local laws and industry standards
  • Support capital raising efforts through direct engagement with investors and financiers

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • 10–15 years’ experience in a commercial leadership role within the oil and gas or energy sector
  • Prior technical experience (engineering or operations) is a strong advantage
  • Proven experience managing commercial partnerships, project financing, and key account relationships
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical) or a related technical discipline
  • A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus

Desired Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of oil and gas operations and regulations in Nigeria or similar regions
  • Strategic thinking and commercial acumen
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and financial modeling tools
  • Excellent negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • High level of accountability, ownership, and professionalism
