Job Title: Accountant 

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

• We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our retail store in Ikeja. 
• The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations while supporting the overall financial health of our retail operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and complete accounting cycle activities
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies
• Manage payroll processing and ensure timely payment of salaries
• Handle tax compliance and prepare necessary documentation for tax filings
• Develop and maintain budgets in collaboration with department heads
• Monitor inventory costs and retail margins
• Generate financial analysis reports to support management decision-making
• Implement and maintain internal financial controls
• Coordinate with external auditors during audit periods

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Professional accounting certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a retail environment
• Experience in a retail store is important
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards
• Experience with accounting software and point-of-sale systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and financial reporting requirements
• Experience with inventory accounting and retail financial operations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software packages.
