Senior Treasury Officer (STO) at Baobab Microfinance Bank

Baobab is an investment company whose mission is to create a group of leading microfinance banks and finance companies in at least 15 countries by 2015 that will provide financial services and savings products to entrepreneurs who lack access to the traditional financial sector. Baobab was created in July 2005 by PlaNet Finance, and other investors including International Finance Corporation, AXA Belgium, and Societe Generale, with the European Investment Bank, the French Development Agency and Developing World Markets joining later.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Treasury Officer (STO)

Job Summary

• Working under the Treasury Manager and is responsible for the overall management of the Treasury Operations function, its internal controls and Treasury Reporting.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Preparation of Treasury Journals for posting before 20th of the month and 1st for EOM key activities.
• Preparation of daily liquidity report for submission to the ALCO Members.
• Preparation of Monthly ALCO Report, organization, and coordination of the ALCO meeting.
• Preparation of monthly Cash Flow Projection and Stress testing Report.
• Management of the Deposit Concentration Risk and Report.
• Effective management of the FX risk and minimizing FX loss to the Bank.
• Implementation of the Contingency Policy for Liquidity Crisis Management.
• Ensure compliance with the lender’s loan covenants.
• Monitoring and always meeting all regulatory compliance ratios, reporting and mitigating any deviations.
• Preparation of Monthly Guarantee Report for the Group – 3rd of every month.
• Preparation of Monthly Liquidity Report for the Group - 7th of every month.
• Ensure Safe balance report and Portfolio yield report is out by the 2nd working day of the new month.
• Monthly proof of all Treasury Assets and Liabilities General Ledgers.
• Ensure that all the Audit reports of the Treasury Unit are rated at the minimum of Orange by the Internal Audit Unit with minimum audit exceptions.
• Ensure all Audit recommendations are treated within one (1) month of submission of the Audit Report and no repeat audit exception reported against your unit.

Qualification

• The ideal person must possess a minimum qualification of a good First Degree and a postgraduate qualification (MBA, MSc).
• He must possess a relevant professional certification of ACA, ACCA.
• He must possess a minimum of five (5) years of post-qualification experience Treasury Operations and Functions of a National Microfinance Bank or a Commercial Bank.
• Must have experience in coordinating external audit of the Treasury activities with one of the top 4 audit firms (PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, EY).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to promptly identify and address project risks and issues.

Technical Competence
He must be trained and proficient in the use of all basic and several advanced Microsoft Office applications, Banking and Accounting software including:

• Microsoft Advance Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Globus Temenos T24 Banking Application.
• Sage Pastel and Sage X3 Accounting Package.
• Financial analysis and modeling tools.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS and FRCN Rules.
