Job Title: Sustainability Manager
Location: Agbara, Ogun
Job Purpose
The Sustainability Manager is part of the sustainability team and will contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of sustainability strategies for Betaglass /Frigoglass.
This role ensures the organization’s operations comply with Nigerian environmental laws and global best practices, while driving positive social, environmental, and economic impact.
The position requires strong stakeholder engagement with government bodies if applicable, internal audit committees, communities, and industry partners to advance sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement sustainability strategies, policies, and initiatives that align with Nigerian regulations (e.g., NESREA, EIA Act) and international standards
Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements in Nigeria, including reporting and documentation for regulatory agencies
Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement in environmental performance, resource efficiency, and waste management
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, supply chain, marketing) to integrate sustainability into business processes and product life cycles
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies (NESREA, SON, NAFDAC), NGOs, local communities, and industry associations
Support with the implementation of community development and social responsibility initiatives in line with local needs and company objectives
Oversee sustainability data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability in disclosing performance metrics and progress
Provide training and guidance to employees to foster a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance with Nigerian and international standards
Monitor emerging sustainability trends, policies, and technologies relevant to Nigeria, and incorporate them into organizational strategy
Represent the organization in sustainability forums, regulatory meetings, and industry groups as required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in sustainability management, ESG, or corporate social responsibility.
Strong knowledge of Nigerian environmental laws, ESG frameworks, and sustainability reporting standards
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills
Professional certifications are an advantage
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects
