Job Title: Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager
Location: Ikoyi. Lagos

Job Description
Develop and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and systems in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
Safety Policy Development & Implementation:
Develop and enforce safety policies and protocols in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
Create and update safety manuals and procedures for all employees.
Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to prevent workplace accidents.
Ensure all contractors comply with company safety policies.
Safety Training & Education:
Conduct safety training sessions, including PPE usage, emergency response, and hazardous material handling.
Induct all new employees into the company’s safety policies.
Educate employees on identifying and reporting unsafe conditions.
Workplace Inspections & Compliance Monitoring:
Conduct regular safety inspections across all sites and the head office.
Identify unsafe conditions and acts, ensuring prompt corrective actions.
Inspect and certify ladders, scaffolds, power tools, machines, and electrical appliances.
Monitor compliance with safety regulations and recommend improvements.
Emergency Preparedness & Response:
Develop and implement emergency response plans for sites and the head office.
Plan and execute emergency drills, including fire and evacuation procedures.
Ensure emergency safety equipment (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, etc.) is serviced and up to date.
Incident Investigation & Reporting:
Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and safety violations.
Prepare reports with findings and recommend preventive measures.
Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
Safety Communication & Coordination:
Organize monthly safety meetings with Safety Officers, Site Engineers, Project Managers, and Site Managers.
Establish and oversee safety committees for each site.
Serve as the primary contact for government, internal, and external safety audits.
Address worker safety complaints and collaborate with management on corrective actions.
Safety Equipment & PPE Management:
Ensure all employees have and use the necessary PPE.
Conduct periodic checks to confirm safety gear and equipment are in good working condition.
Enforce PPE use across all job sites.
Safety Data & Regulatory Compliance:
Stay updated on local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Maintain safety records, permits, and inspection logs.
Collate and analyze monthly safety statistics and reports to identify deviations and improvement areas.
Qualifications
Masters + Bachelor’s Degree/HND
NEBOSH IGC
Certificate in Construction Health and Safety
Experience:
10-15 years’ experience in the health and safety environment with at least 3 years management experience.
Competencies:
Ability to utilize a range of leadership styles and approaches to lead on the development, function and implementation of operational plans to deliver on the health and safety requirements across the business.
Ability to constantly seek process improvement and find ways to implement the same within the department.
Ability to assume responsibility for HSE department outcomes.
Great people's skill,
Should be able to assess strategic organizational HSE needs,
Must be able to educate and advise executive team on strategic HSE issues as a factor in decision-making.
Ability to align HSE policies and procedures with organizational values and goals
Should be able to Influence the direction and creation of a vision for the HSE team
