We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Consultant (Disability Inclusion in Governance Surveys)
TAF Africa is seeking a consultant to conduct in-depth research on the political involvement of PWDs at the national and sub-national levels.
The consultant is expected to conduct a comprehensive national survey assessing the political participation of PWDs during the 2023 general elections, subsequent off-cycle elections and the local government elections across the country from 2023 – 2025.
The survey will document the number of PWDs who contested for and secured elective or appointive positions at the national, state, and local government levels.
The output of the survey will serve as a benchmark for measuring progress in disability inclusion in governance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Objectives
Survey PWD political office aspirants, elected, those in appointive and in political parties positions at national and sub-national levels.
Establish a comprehensive database of PWDs in governance at national and sub-national levels to strengthen advocacy for their political participation and representation.
Produce a detailed database with an analytical report that evaluates the progress of PWDs’ inclusive participation to help enhance public awareness and appreciation of the civic rights of PWDs.
Expected Deliverables
At the end of this assignment, a comprehensive database of PWDs in governance, which will serve as a tool for advocacy and policy engagement towards the 2027 elections, will be produced. Specifically, the following outputs will be generated by the consultant:
Database of elected PWDs at the national, state, and LGA levels, disaggregated by sex, age, disability type, positions held, contact details and location.
Database of PWDs in appointive positions at the national, state and local government levels disaggregated by sex, age, disability type, positions held, contact details and location.
Database of PWDs in leadership roles within political parties at various levels disaggregated by sex, age, disability type, positions held, contact details and political party affiliation.
Database of PWDs who have contested for elective and leadership positions disaggregated by sex, age, disability type, positions held, contact details and location.
Detailed list of all personnel involved in the project, including data collectors, along with proof of payment to each individual.
Qualifications
Education: A PhD or M.Sc. in Social Sciences, or a relevant field and certifications.
S/he must have at least 10 years of proven experience in the same field with verifiable references.
The Lead consultant must be a renowned development researcher with a proven track record in PWD-related work and expertise.
A proven practical experience in government relations and stakeholder engagement.
S/he shall appoint relevant support staff in the course of this assignment.
