Job Title: General Manager (Commercial)
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Summary
The General Manager (Commercial) is responsible for driving the commercial strategy of the organization, ensuring sustainable revenue growth, fostering strategic partnerships, and overseeing client relationship management, and business development functions by designing and executing strategies to attract and grow customer borrowings/investments in line with the company’s liquidity and financial goals.
The role focuses on expanding the borrowings base through product innovation, relationship management, and market outreach.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning:
Develop and implement funds mobilization strategies to grow retail, corporate, and institutional borrowings/investments.
Develop and execute commercial strategies aligned with company objectives.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes related to commercial functions.
Revenue and Business Development:
Identify and target key investors including high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), SMEs, corporates, NGOs, and government bodies.
Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and proactively seek referrals.
Drive new business acquisition, client retention, and revenue expansion.
Recommend pricing (interest rates) and features to ensure product competitiveness.
Identify and nurture strategic alliances and partnerships.
Client Relationship Management:
Oversee key account management and ensure client satisfaction.
Identify and nurture strategic alliances and partnerships.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
Manage service-level agreements (SLAs) and ensure compliance.
Leadership and Team Development:
Lead and mentor the commercial team, setting clear KPIs and performance benchmarks.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Financial Performance:
Drive the funds mobilization strategy to achieve annual targets, including revenue growth, asset quality, and return on investment.
Prepare periodic reports on the financial performance of the portfolio for the Board and senior management.

Year-over-year revenue growth
Customer acquisition and retention metrics
New market penetration
Gross margin improvement
Compliance with commercial-related regulatory requirements
Implement policies and procedures to ensure ethical conduct and integrity in all commercial banking operations.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 12 years of experience in commercial banking, with at least 8 years in senior management roles in funds mobilization and relationship management.
Proven track record in corporate banking and sales preferably in the financial services sector.
Proven track record in achieving Investment targets and client acquisition
Strong knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
Skills and Competencies:
Strategic thinking and leadership skills.
Excellent relationship management and negotiation abilities.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities
In-depth understanding of financial products, market dynamics, and risk management frameworks.
Understanding of financial services regulations.
