Job Title: Plant Manager - Oil & Gas
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Role
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and strategic planning of the construction plant and equipment used in oil and gas projects.
This role ensures optimal performance, safety compliance, and cost-efficiency of all plant operations, supporting the successful execution of construction activities in line with project timelines and industry standards.
Job Duties
Operational Management:
Manage the deployment, operation, and maintenance of heavy equipment and machinery at construction sites.
Ensure plant and equipment availability aligns with project schedules and requirements.
Monitor plant performance metrics and implement improvements to increase efficiency.
Maintenance Management:
Manage the process of equipment pre-mob; calibration and recertifications with relevant authorities.
Develop and oversee preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment and facilities.
Team Leadership:
Lead and supervise plant personnel including mechanics, operators, and technicians.
Provide training and development to ensure high skill levels and safety awareness.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Budget & Cost Control:
Manage plant-related budgets, including procurement of spare parts and consumables.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
Track and report on plant-related expenditures and KPIs.
Logistics & Coordination:
Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and mobilization of equipment.
Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and inventory.
Reporting and Data Management:
Prepares timely and accurate internal and external plant progress reports.
Maintain Project plant and equipment schedule and cost updates
Develop a robust data base for all plant and equipment related information in ways that the data available will be useful for analysis and insights.
Implement and enforce QHSE policy:
Manage the Plant process defined as part of the ISO 9001 certification and carry out all the actions necessary for its optimization, for the conduct of internal / external audits.
Respect and enforce the procedures defined in the quality process.
In liaison with the Quality Department and HSE, ensure the maintenance and development of certifications with the organizations concerned.
Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) regulations and company safety policies.
Skills:
Functional:
Experience with ERP systems related to asset and maintenance management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Extra Skills:
Strong knowledge of heavy equipment used in oil and gas construction (e.g., cranes, excavators, compressors).
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Familiarity with industry safety standards and environmental regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in plant or equipment management within the construction or oil and gas industry.
Salary
N1,500,000 - N2,000,000 Monthly.
