Chief Security Officer at National Hospital Abuja

The National Hospital was established by act 36 of 1999 as a 200 bed National Hospital for women and Children (NHWC). Under the Presidency. It was originally designed to cater for the needs of women and children in Nigeria and the West African sub-region with a view to reducing morbidity and mortality rates, and to carry out extensive research into the peculiar causes of women and children-related diseases in Africa. However, in the year 2000 the name was changed to National Hospital with a mandate to cater for all and in 2011, it was transferred from the Presidency to the Federal Ministry of Health for supervision. The hospital expanded to 400bed and now renders specialist services in all areas of medicine.

Responsibilities

• The Chief Security Officer is the Head of Unit (HOU) responsible to the Chief Medical Director/CEO for day-to-day running of the Security Unit. 
• Also, the Chief Security Officer shall advise on the formulation, execution and review of policies and programmes relating to Security needs of the Hospital and will also serve as the liaison officer of the Hospital with other security agencies. 
• Also, the Chief Security Officer will be overseeing the activities and performance of the Outsource Security Service providers of the Hospital.
• Perform such other functions as the Chief Medical Director may from time to time assign to him/her.

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess a good honours degree in Criminology/Security or equivalent. Applicants that are retired as Officers from the Nigeria Police, Military or Civil Defence, not below the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police or its equivalent will have added advantage
• Must possess membership of relevant Professional bodies on security matters
• Candidates must have at least Ten (10) years cognate working experience at Managerial level in any reputable establishment preferably in a tertiary Health Institution.
• Candidates must exhibit strong security knowledge
• Candidates must exhibit evidence of strong administrative and leadership qualities.

Salary and Conditions of Service

• Salary and conditions of service shall be in accordance with the Public Service salary structure for this category of officers.
