Job Summary
As a Maintenance Officer- Electrical at Rapid Rentals, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems and equipment.
You are to ensure that all electrical installations and machinery are safe, functional, and efficient.
You will also be involved in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting, and on-site support to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
General Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to ensure efficient operations.
Manage and supervise electrical maintenance projects.
Ensure the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and materials.
Implement and maintain safety procedures and protocols.
Provide technical support and guidance to other staff members.
Operate and maintain power generation systems, including load testing and optimization.
Manage electrical spare parts and inventory.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct regular inspections of generators and associated electrical equipment.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on generator installations.
Troubleshoot electrical faults on-site and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Install and set up generators and electrical distribution systems according to specifications and safety standards at sites.
Repair and replace faulty electrical components in generators and related equipment.
Read and interpret electrical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics for generator systems.
Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations, particular regarding temporary power installations.
Key Peformance Indicators (KPIs)
Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF): Measures the average time between generator failures.
Mean Time To Repair (MTTR): Measures the average time it takes to repair rental generators.
Downtime Reduction: Measures the reduction in downtime of generators at sites.
Preventive Maintenance Compliance: Measures the percentage of scheduled preventive maintenance tasks completed on time.
Emergency Repair Response Time: Measures the time taken to respond to emergency electrical repair requests at sites.
Customer Satisfaction Rating: Measures customer satisfaction with the performance and reliability of generators.
Generator Availability Rate: Measures the percentage of time generators are operational and available for rent.
Safety Compliance Rate: Measures adherence to electrical safety standards and regulations during installation, operation, and maintenance of generators.
Requirements
Key Skills and Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field
3-4 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably with generator systems
Valid electrician certification.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and equipment, with a focus on power generator equipment’
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and schematics for generator systems.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues under pressure.
Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations, including those related to temporary power installations.
Ability to use electrical testing equipment and tools.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols, particularly for working with generators and electrical distribution systems.
Experience with power generator system, load testing, paralleling is an added advantage.
