Job Summary
The Senior accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring financial health, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance.
This role involves managing budgets, financial forecasting, risk management, and guiding financial decision-making to support business growth and sustainability
Responsibilities
Work in conjunction with all department heads to ensure maximum profitability and strategize ways to minimize waste and control costs.
Provide critical assessment of all budgets and cost projections.
Ensure the Company’s compliance with relevant statutory law and financial regulations.
Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost reduction as well as monitoring actual versus budgeted expenses.
Develop actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives developed in alignment with the CEO.
Ensures strategic objectives are shaped at the Executive Management level and are translated into tactical business plans with mechanisms for key measurements in place to monitor progress.
Liaising with internal and external auditors to ensure periodic monitoring.
Develop financial strategy, including risk minimization plans and opportunity forecasting.
Ensure the accuracy, reliability, completeness, and integrity of the Company’s financial statement in line with local and international statutory requirements (Local GAAP, IFRS, IAS, etc)
Produce and analyse periodic results and KPIs (Financial & Operations) in accordance with the company’s policies.
Coordinate the Company’s annual statutory audit and periodic review activities with independent auditors.
Supervision of the finance/account officers and assistants.
Overseeing the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial reports (e.g., income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements).
Prepare the Company’s annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
Ensure Standard Operating procedures and internal control policies in place are strictly adhered to.
Developing strategies and plans for the long-term financial goals of the organization as well as directing budgets to meet these goals.
Monitor and control cash flow to enable the organization to meet its business and investment needs.
Setting credit rating criteria, determining credit ceilings, monitoring of receivables, aging, and following up with payment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CFA) is preferred.
Minimum of 7–10 years of financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and tax laws.
Experience with financial planning, budgeting, and investment analysis.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work strategically while managing financial details effectively.
Salary
N450,000 - N500,000 Monthly.
