Over the years, Matrix Energy has grown from a modest supply and distributions operation to a fully integrated petroleum products marketing and trading company with clients and suppliers all over the world.
Lead the procurement team and drive the development and implementation of procurement strategy to ensure supplies and services are made available in a compliant, timely and cost-efficient manner.
This job holder also oversees supplier/vendor relationship management, market intelligence and end-to-end supply chain and logistics management.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Lead the sourcing process - locating and maintaining the best sources for the supply of components, materials and services- to service the needs of the Group.
Develop procurement and contracting strategy/policy and guide the implementation of same across the Group.
Ensures continuous evaluation of all policies/processes to maintain effectiveness and efficiency in all procurement activities.
Manage and provide guidance on subcontractors and suppliers’ tenders, bids and quotations in conjunction with requesting departments and ensure compliance with the Group’s contracting and procurement policies.
Drive the establishment of a central database of suppliers and subcontractors with a proven track record of price competitiveness, reliability and ability to meet specifications
Coordinate the selection of suppliers that can act as long-term partners and build relationships with same in a bid to contribute to the Group’s overall objectives
Monitor supplier performance management to ensure that suppliers perform according to agreed service levels, e.g. price competitiveness, reliability and adherence to specifications
Spearhead the continuous improvement of procurement and contracting processes across the Group, e.g. turnaround times, and ensure that the procurement unit delivers quality service to its internal customers
Liaise with the legal team to review procurement contracts to ensure that all procurement and contracting activities do not contravene local regulations and duly represent the best interest of the Group
Prepare the annual Procurement budget by collaborating with various requesting departments and incorporating the general products, equipment and service needs in the Group.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Group Head of Support Services.
Skills and Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management or any other related field.
SA Master's degree will be an added advantage.
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in Procurement for an Oil & Gas company or a related field, with at least three (3) years in a managerial role
Professional certification in procurement.
Certification in Project Management is an added advantage.
Ability to communicate effectively and manage stakeholders.
In-depth knowledge of best practices in Procurement & Supply Chain Management
Ability to develop strategy and policy documents.
Excellent Vendor Management and Supplier Selection skills.
Knowledge of ERP and other procurement management tools/software
Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
High proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
Good financial knowledge and high ethical standards.
