Job Title: Business Development Manager

Job Summary
The Business Development unit at eHealth Africa (eHA) is dedicated to driving the organization's growth and long-term sustainability by strategically identifying and securing funding opportunities, fostering meaningful partnerships, and implementing innovative solutions that align with eHA’s mission.
Through proactive engagement and strategic positioning, the Business Development unit enhances eHA’s capacity to deliver impactful health and development solutions, expanding its reach and amplifying its contributions to the communities it serves.
The Business Development Manager plays a critical role in advancing eHealth Africa’s mission by identifying, pursuing, and securing strategic funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities.
Collaborating closely with technical and program teams, this role leads and coordinates complex business development processes, including proposal development and management, partner engagement, and donor communications.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:
Lead complex proposal development, ensuring strategic alignment with donor priorities, technical accuracy, and compliance.
Applies strategic and data-driven insights to shape pursuit plans and ensure responsiveness to emerging funding priorities
Develop and manage proposal calendars, outlines, and content drafting in collaboration with program and technical leads.
Conduct donor and competitor analysis to inform bid strategies and track potential funding opportunities.
Develop compelling value propositions and theories of change that integrate eHA’s technical expertise and innovation.
Support the continuous improvement of tools, templates, and processes within the Business Development team.
Serve as a key liaison between the business development team and technical/country teams to align strategic priorities and funding pursuits.
Represent eHA in donor and partner meetings, conferences, and events to promote organizational visibility and establish strategic relationships.
Manage partner relationships throughout proposal development, including negotiations, role definition, and joint submissions.
Engages partners and donors to gather feedback, align expectations, and co-develop innovative solutions that strengthen proposal competitiveness.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in International Development, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 – 7 years of progressively responsible experience in business development or fundraising within the NGO or development sector.
Experience working in cross-functional teams, preferably in international or multi-country settings.
In-depth knowledge on technical and business priorities of diverse donor agencies (including Gates Foundation, CDC, GAVI, Global Fund, NIH).
Experience with European development assistance, particularly the U.K. Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, and/or major charitable foundations based in the US and Europe are highly preferred.

Certifications and Licenses:
CBDE, NGMA, PMP, CSM certifications or the equivalent are desired
