Job Title: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Job Functions and Responsibilities
Strategy:
Evaluate information and consult with the Head of School and budget department heads to prepare a realistic and balanced budget for the school:
Submit the proposed budget to the Head of School for approval and assist the overall financial planning process.
Use the agreed budget to actively monitor and control performance to achieve value for money.
Identify and inform the management team of the causes of significant variance and take prompt corrective action.
Propose revisions to the budget, if necessary, in response to significant or unforeseen developments.
Provide ongoing budgetary information to relevant people.
Prepare monthly management accounts in liaison with the accounts team, including budget variance analysis and full-year projections.
Review revenue collection and purchasing procedure and develop the best modus operandi that will be effective for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Provide insightful information and expectations to the Head of School to aid in short-term and longterm decision making by:
Daily & Monthly match profit centers and cost centers with income and expense accruable to each without mix up both on paper and on SAGE e.g., Wellspring
Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the school
Seek out methods for protecting potential financial risk to the school
Apply cost reduction approach on transactions of the school without lowering Standards day to Day Operations.
Monitor the day-to-day financial operations using SAGE within the school, such as payroll, invoicing, and other transactions. This entails:
Daily authorization of all expenses and ensure proper expense categorization
Daily review all expense postings into SAGE, to ensure accuracy of entries
Daily ensure that all in Earnings/Lodgments/Transfers into the school accounts are fully receipted/documented and correctly posted into SAGE
Monthly extract all bank charges and interest earnings from the school’s bank accounts, and post same into corresponding accounts in the SAGE
Quarterly spool debtors and creditors ledgers and follow up on debtors to recover outstanding fees
Monthly review and reconcile all General Ledgers especially suspense Accounts like: Staff Loan & Advances, Bank statements, Advance payments and payables etc.
Monthly review salaries before and after payments ensuring that staff loans are properly deducted and salaries are correctly paid and posted into the SAGE
Ensure that intra bank transfers are posted into the SAGE the day the transfers are made and properly documented
Monthly review the financial statements on monthly basis; Balance Sheet, Income Statements, Trial Balance etc.
Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports
Daily & monthly ensure that all student's and other refunds are not expensed but posted to the income head that earned it initially. Security deposit refunds is debited to account payable 'Security deposit'
Biannually conduct physical stock count of inventories and matching same with SAGE balances
Prepare financial reports for Head of School, department heads for quarterly budget review and Board meetings:
General Finance:
Prepare reports for outside services e.g., tax preparation, auditing, banking investments, and other financial needs as necessary.
Advise the HOS if fraudulent activities are suspected or uncovered.
Track ACA's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
Review monthly payroll before payment.
Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes.
Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
Work collaboratively with the Accounts department staff and other departments that liaise with Accounts (Resources, School Café)
Professional / Personal Qualifications
The minimum education requirement will be an Advanced Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field and preferably a professional certified accountant (ACCA or ICAN).
A minimum of six years’ experience in Managerial finance role; superior mathematical skills.
Deep understanding of business principles and practices; data privacy standards etc.
Familiar with SAGE accounting package or any closely related accounting software.
Possess a superior attention to detail; organizational skills; planning skills; research skills; analytical skills; critical thinking skills; problem-solving skills; computer skills.
Ability to create and lead effectively in a team environment and international exposure (either by travel or working with foreign team members will be desirable).
Ability to think strategically and to analyze complex situations.
Person Specification:

N400,000 - N500,000 / Month.
