Job Summary

• We're looking for a talented Product Designer to help build exceptional consumer-facing payment experiences. Your work will directly impact millions of Africans as they engage with digital commerce, making payments more intuitive, delightful, and accessible.
• You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to understand user needs, business requirements, and technical constraints. Together, you'll craft elegant solutions that serve our user base across different regions, addressing payment challenges with innovative, culturally relevant approaches.
• Your day-to-day will involve collaborating on product strategy, conducting user research, creating wireframes and prototypes, designing intuitive interfaces, and continuously iterating based on user feedback. You'll also contribute to our growing design system, ensuring consistency across the Paystack product ecosystem.
• You'll report directly to the Product Design Lead, and work within a collaborative team focused on consumer experiences. This is a full-time role, and the successful candidate will ideally be physically located in Nigeria.

We'll trust you to

• Design elegant, intuitive interfaces that push the boundaries of visual and interaction design and set new standards for consumer-facing payment products
• Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements and user needs into compelling design solutions
• Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that effectively communicate your ideas
• Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and identify opportunities for improvement
• Contribute to and help maintain our design system, ensuring consistency across Paystack products
• Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are implemented with high fidelity and attention to detail
• Stay current with design trends, patterns, and best practices, particularly in financial technology and African markets
• Advocate for user-centred design practices throughout the organisation
• Provide constructive feedback to your teammates to help elevate our design practice

You’ll thrive in this role if you

• Have 3+ years of experience designing digital products with a strong portfolio demonstrating your process and outcomes
• Possess strong visual design skills with an eye for typography, colour, layout, and interaction design
• Have experience designing for financial services, payments, or e-commerce
• Demonstrate expertise in mobile design patterns, with a nuanced understanding of when to follow conventions and when to innovate
• Are comfortable using design tools like Figma
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and receive feedback
• Have experience conducting user research and applying insights to design solutions
• Can balance user needs with business goals and technical constraints
• Are passionate about creating accessible, inclusive designs for diverse user populations
• Enjoy iterating quickly based on feedback.
