Job Title: Gym Technician

Location: Yaba, Lagos

Position Summary

• We are seeking a skilled and motivated Gym Technician to join our team and ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our gym equipment and facilities.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining a safe and efficient fitness environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all gym equipment, including treadmills, bikes, resistance machines, and free weights.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faulty or damaged fitness machines.
• Ensure that all equipment is clean, safe, and in good working condition.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies needed for repairs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report issues to the Facility Manager.
• Assist in the setup of new equipment and ensure correct installation.
• Respond promptly to service requests and emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with gym staff to report hazards or recurring issues.
• Educate staff on the proper handling and care of gym equipment when needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant vocational training preferred.
• 6 - 8 years proven experience in equipment maintenance or a similar technical role, ideally in a fitness or recreational setting.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment and perform manual tasks.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
• Familiarity with health and safety standards in gym environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in fitness equipment maintenance (e.g., from major manufacturers like Life Fitness, Technogym, Precor, etc.).
• Experience working in a commercial gym or fitness center.
• Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and reporting.

Working Conditions:

• May require occasional weekend or evening work depending on maintenance needs.
• Physical work including lifting, bending, and using tools for extended periods.

Salary
N100,000 - N150,000 Monthly.
