Job Title: Sales Manager
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Role Summary
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading the hotel's sales strategy to maximise revenue, occupancy, and market share across all business segments.
The role oversees sales planning and execution, account management, customer engagement, and coordination with key departments to ensure delivery of service excellence.
This position also involves identifying growth opportunities, maintaining strong business relationships, and coaching the sales team to meet performance targets in alignment with the hotel's brand standards and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Drive proactive and reactive sales efforts by developing strategic account plans and identifying demand generators to increase occupancy, RevPAR, and market share.
Lead the development and execution of marketing communication strategies, sales campaigns, and promotional activities to enhance brand visibility and revenue.
Conduct regular market research, competitor analysis, and customer intelligence to inform pricing strategies and identify new business opportunities.
Participate actively in sales strategy meetings and collaborate with revenue management and marketing teams to align sales goals with hotel objectives.
Manage key client relationships and serve as the primary sales contact for VIP accounts, corporate clients, and event planners, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
Oversee the preparation of proposals, contracts, and correspondence; ensure accurate documentation and seamless handover from sales to operations.
Monitor the resolution of guest issues linked to the sales process and establish mechanisms for service recovery and feedback.
Lead, coach, and develop the sales team to achieve individual and collective booking targets, fostering a high-performance culture.
Partner with HR in recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top sales talent while identifying training needs and succession planning opportunities.
Evaluate the effectiveness of sales channels, develop sales tools, and ensure use of demand engines to their fullest potential.
Build strong partnerships with community organisations, industry groups, and local businesses to increase brand awareness and develop long-term opportunities.
Represent the hotel at trade shows, client events, and public relations functions to attract and secure new business.
Manage the marketing budget to support customized campaigns, digital marketing efforts, and development of promotional materials.
Maintain regular reporting on sales performance, pipeline activities, and business forecasts; present weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to leadership.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a hotel sales role, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets in a service-oriented environment.
Previous experience working in a reputable hotel brand or luxury service environment is required.
Exposure to business travel, corporate accounts, and MICE segments is highly desirable.
Professional certifications in sales or marketing are an added advantage.
Required Functional and Behavioural Competencies:
Strong knowledge of sales planning, business development, and revenue management.
Proficiency in CRM systems, property management software, and Microsoft Office tools.
Ability to analyse market data, customer trends, and competitor performance.
Skilled in contract negotiation, proposal development, and closing deals.
Understanding of marketing techniques, campaign development, and event sales.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Customer-focused with strong relationship-building skills.
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and analytical.
Ability to adapt to dynamic business needs.
