Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Manager
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Role Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance and engineering operations within the hotel to ensure that the facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are safe, functional, and presented to the highest standard. This includes the planning, execution, and monitoring of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programmes.
The role incumbent must demonstrate a proactive approach to facility upkeep, apply industry best practices, and lead a competent technical team in supporting the hotel’s operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and supervise the maintenance of all hotel systems, facilities, and infrastructure including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, elevators, kitchen equipment, and guestroom fixtures.
Ensure strict compliance with health and safety standards, hotel policies, and statutory regulations; provide ongoing safety training and support to the maintenance team.
Lead the maintenance team by providing clear directions, assigning duties, and establishing measurable KPIs to drive efficiency and accountability.
Design and implement effective preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and ensure the continuous operation of all hotel systems.
Oversee the condition monitoring of critical equipment and infrastructure; provide data to support capital replacement planning and optimise maintenance frequency.
Manage departmental budgets, monitor energy and utilities usage, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety or guest comfort.
Conduct regular facility inspections and audits to identify faults, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement; follow up with timely resolutions.
Liaise with external contractors, service providers, and regulatory bodies to ensure quality and timely execution of outsourced maintenance work.
Collaborate with hotel leadership and key stakeholders on renovations, upgrades, and engineering-related projects; contribute to project scoping and execution.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, equipment history, service contracts, and inventory of tools and spare parts.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies from guests or operational teams to support excellent service delivery.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by regularly reviewing maintenance processes and encouraging upskilling of technical staff.
Ensure all mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems are properly maintained, tested, and compliant with relevant standards and hotel brand expectations.
Support sustainability efforts by driving energy efficiency programmes, monitoring resource consumption, and recommending green building practices.
Perform other duties as required to ensure the safe and smooth functioning of the hotel.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years’ relevant maintenance experience, with at least 3 years in a hotel.
Membership of COREN, PMP, or other relevant professional bodies is an added advantage.
Solid track record of leading successful maintenance projects or refurbishments in operational hotel environments.
