Job Title: Loan Recovery Officer

Job Summary

• Our client is seeking a proactive and results-driven Loan Recovery Officer to join the loan operation team to manage and execute the recovery of overdue loan accounts.
• The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a firm understanding of credit and lending operations, and a professional approach to client engagement.
• You will play a critical role in minimizing financial risk and maintaining a healthy loan portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and track delinquent accounts to ensure timely recovery of overdue payments.
• Contact borrowers via phone, email, and field visits to negotiate repayment plans.
• Analyze borrower profiles and financial conditions to recommend appropriate recovery strategies.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all communications and recovery activities.
• Work closely with the Credit teams to escalate unresolved accounts.
• Initiate legal proceedings for recovery, when necessary, in coordination with legal counsel.
• Prepare regular reports on recovery performance and outstanding balances.
• Ensure compliance with all internal policies and regulatory requirements related to debt collection.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with clients while maintaining firmness and tact.

Requirements

• HND/BSc in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections, debt recovery, or credit control, preferably in the financial services sector.
• Strong knowledge of lending practices, credit assessment, and collection laws/regulations.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet recovery targets.
• Proficiency in MS Office and experience with loan management systems.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
