Women in the New Nigeria (WINN) is a leading women-led and women's rights non-governmental organization established in 2010 and legally incorporated in 2013, that focuses on women’s empowerment and enhancing the lives of youths. Job Title: Safe Space Mentor (Case Worker)

Objectives of the Assignment
The overall objective is to provide safe, supportive, and empowering spaces for women and girls to access psychosocial support, life skills, and referral services, while strengthening community-based SGBV/DBV prevention and response mechanisms.
Scope of Work / Responsibilities
The Safe Space Mentor (Case Workers) will:
Identify the specific needs of survivors of SGBV and DBV.
Conduct/ facilitate referrals to other services providers.
Provide basic emotional support and regular follow-up with survivors.
Minimize risks and respond compassionately and appropriately to reports of GBV/DBV.
Apply survivor-centered principles: safety, confidentiality, respect, and non-discrimination.
Promote gender equality and integrate gender analysis into programming.
Demonstrate empathy, cultural competence, and interpersonal skills.
Daily Activities:
Provide case management and coordinate referrals for psychosocial and behavioral health services.
Ensure timely and accurate information flow for case management.
Identify urgent needs and ensure appropriate referrals or materials.
Conduct comprehensive assessments including stakeholder engagement and risk analysis.
Manage safe spaces for social interaction, skill building, and access to non-stigmatising GBV services.
Supervise handicraft courses, planning and conducting creative workshops to empower participants.
Expected Deliverables:
Weekly and monthly reports documenting support services provided.
Records of referral coordination and case outcomes.
Reports on training/workshops delivered in the safe spaces.
Collating and documenting success stories and survivor impact documentation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of NCE in Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, or related fields, Diploma or bachelor’s degree in relevant fields will be an added advantage.
At least 2 years of experience in GBV prevention, protection, or women and girls empowerment roles.
Strong understanding of survivor-centered approaches and GBV guiding principles.
Proven facilitation and mentoring skills.
Fluency in Hausa, and at least one of Babur, Fulfulde, or Kanakuru languages.
English proficiency is an added advantage.
Must be resident or indigene of Biu, Shani, Hawul, or Kwaya Kusar. Ability to read and write.
Duration and Location:
The consultancy will run from June 2025 to April 2027 (23 months), with a probation period of 3 months. Each Safe Space Mentor will be based in the target LGAs and will work full-time.
Reporting and Supervision:
The Safe Space Mentor will report directly to the WINN Protection Officer and work in collaboration with the Project Coordinator and community-based stakeholders.
