Job Summary

• Business Insider is looking for a Newsroom Social Media Manager to join the team.
• You are to manage and grow Business Insider Africa’s social media presence by creating, curating, and distributing engaging content across platforms.
• The Ideal candidate will handle community management, monitor trends, and respond promptly to comments, ensuring alignment with brand standards.
• To Track performance using analytics tools, optimize campaigns, and contribute innovative strategies to increase reach and engagement.
• You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams while adhering to journalistic ethics and staying ahead of industry trends.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Manage Social Media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities in line with KPIs including but not limited to:

• Management of Business Insider's social media pages - create, curate, and distribute content relevant to the target audience across all assigned social media channels; ensuring proper content distribution, proper use of channels' features, and community management following standard execution guidelines.
• Community management - daily spam check across all the channels and other commenting systems.
• Approve comments when necessary & quick response/monitoring of comments following the standard guidelines.
• Monitor trends and happenings across channels using social media tools such as; IO Analytics, CrowdTangle, etc. and ensure time-to-market for the content distribution is efficient.
• Regularly hit ambitious posting and engagement targets across channels and drive rapid growth in the following and engagement of accounts.
• Become an advocate for Business Insider Africa in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
• Demonstrate ability to map out marketing strategies and then drive that strategy proven by testing and metrics.
• Monitor effective benchmarks (best practices) for measuring the impact of social media campaigns - analyze, review and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximise results.
• Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy and make innovative suggestions and recommendations
• Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding the business - report notable threats to Management.
• Collaborate with other teams: Editorial, Video, and Sales teams to achieve company wide goals.
• Support the Head and Editor of Business Insider Africa to actively propose and help implement new and innovative strategies in order to meet and exceed the company's overall revenue and profit targets.
• Stay keyed into trends and the competitive landscape to ensure that Business Insider as a media brand is always ahead of the curve.
• Abide by the core principles of journalism as well as worldwide journalistic ethics and standards.

Qualifications

• Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with 4 - 5 years work experience.
