Pensions Alliance Limited is a joint venture between First Securities Discount House Company (FSDH) (now known as FSDH Holding Company Ltd.) and African Alliance Insurance Plc.
We are a licensed Pension Fund Administrator with about 2 decades of professional experience in Pension Funds Administration. We were incorporated on April 14, 2005 to manage and administer retirement savings contributions of employees in Nigeria as a result of the Pension Reform Act of 2004.
The Investment Risk Officer under the leadership of the Head of Risk Management, is tasked with the market risk management aspect of the company’s primary RSA Funds (Funds I – V), among other investment risk management practice related to the company’s investment portfolio.
Responsibilities
Investment Appraisals:
It is the purview of the Investment Risk Officer to carry out appraisals on the viability and risk profile of all proposed new investments.
The Investment Risk Officer does this through a combination of credit risk analysis, returns analysis and projection, as well as analysis of the credit rating review of the proposed investment.
The Investment Risk Officer is also expected to conduct periodic risk assessments of existing investments to ensure their continued viability.
Preparation of the monthly Management Investment committee Risk Report: The investment Officer prepares this report, highlighting key risks which have occurred within the past month in the investment space.
He also highlights probable risks that may crystallizes.
Preparation of the quarterly Board Risk Management Committee (BRMC) Risk Report:
The Investment Risk Officer is responsible for the preparation of the investment arm of the BRMC report which highlights significant risk and performance issues the company faced in the last quarter.
He may also be required to have an input in the preparation of the other aspects of the BRMC report as required by the Head of Risk management
Preparation of the Quarterly Performance Dashboard:
The Investment Risk Officer is expected to maintain a quarterly Risk/Performance dashboard. He is expected to collate key ratios and performance metrics on issues relating to Company fund performance, Operational Risk issues and Information Security matters.
Macro-Economic Trend Analysis Monitoring:
The Investment Risk Officer is expected to maintain a macroeconomic trend temp are wherein he tracks all relevant local and foreign macro-economic Indices that would aid his analysis and understanding of the investment environment and the risks therein.
Model Development and Updating:
The Investment Risk Officer shall oversee the maintenance and update of all investment and market risk models that the risk function uses in its analysis of investment risks which the Company is exposed to.
He shall also be responsible for the development of new investment and market risk models that the department may have use for as the need arises.
Limit Setting and Monitoring:
The Investment Risk Officer shall oversee the setting and monitoring of investment risk benchmarks and thresholds that shall be used to guide the activities of the investment function of PAL Pensions.
Preparation of Investment Risk Incident reports:
The Investment Risk Officer shall be responsible for raising Investment Risk Incident reports/ queries upon the crystallization of an investment risk or a breach of limit or operational policy by the Investment department.
Qualification
Minimum Education level
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 Years experience in the same function
IFRS & ISA Knowledge, Corporate Finance, Data Analysis, International Trade, Financial Markets, and Products.
