Job Description
The GBV Case Worker plays a critical role in providing timely, survivor-centered, and confidential Gender-Based Violence (GBV) case management services to individuals affected by or at risk of GBV.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day identification, documentation, action planning, referral, and follow-up for survivors, in line with standard operating procedures and global guidelines.
The role involves close collaboration with community structures, health, legal, and psychosocial service providers to ensure a holistic response.
The GBV Case Worker also supports awareness raising, documentation, and coordination to improve the quality and accessibility of GBV services.
Responsibilities
Key Competency:
Provide quality case management services to the target population in the implementation area.
Uphold the Survivor-Centered Approach and Do No Harm principles in all GBV interventions.
Apply GBV case management SOPs and IASC guidelines, ensuring appropriate documentation, confidentiality, and ethical service delivery.
Deliver direct support to survivors through assessment, action planning, implementation, referrals, and follow-up.
Facilitate safe, age-appropriate support and psychosocial services for survivors of gender-based violence.
Ensure accurate data entry and timely submission of case reports and statistical updates.
Project Management:
Manage day-to-day GBV case intake, assessment, planning, referrals, and follow-up.
Provide direct support and care for survivors, including basic information, counseling, and case management for both adults and minors.
Ensure survivor confidentiality and safety across all interactions and case file management.
Assess survivors’ needs, develop individualized action plans, and implement follow-up and closure processes in line with GBV case management standards.
Submit weekly case updates, intake forms, and statistics to M&E Officers for database maintenance and analysis.
Produce weekly, monthly, and narrative reports in collaboration with the line manager.
Support identification and documentation of at-risk individuals, especially adolescent girls and women of reproductive age.
Facilitate safe access to information desks and SRH services within Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS).
Contribute to awareness creation and community sensitization activities on GBV and available services.
Liaise with other service providers (health, mental health, legal, shelter, NFIs, livelihoods) to ensure timely and appropriate referrals for survivors.
Actively participate in bi-weekly supervision meetings with SGBV/PSS Officers to review progress and address challenges.
Maintain strong coordination with internal and external actors to ensure smooth referral pathways and service delivery.
Ensure all field staff understand and follow established referral pathways and protocols.
Contribute to service mapping and gap identification in collaboration with stakeholders.
Uphold inter-agency coordination standards and collaborate with partners to strengthen community-based GBV response mechanisms.
Share monthly narrative and statistical reports on case management outcomes and referred services.
Provide feedback and support to PSS Officers and participate in joint planning and evaluation efforts.
