Director of Health Services at the Federal University Otuoke (FUO)

The Federal University Otuoke (FUO) is one of the Federal Universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in February 2011 in cognisance of the need to bridge the great divide between the educationally advantaged and disadvantaged sections of the country, especially areas where universities were lacking.  Cited in the serene and secure Otuoke Community, at the heart of the oil-rich Niger-Delta region of Bayelsa State, the University which is 21 kilometres south of the state capital Yenagoa, occupies an expanse of 200 hectares (494 acres).

Job Title: Director of Health Services

Location: Otuoke, Bayelsa

The Job

• The Director of Health Services is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the organisation and functioning of the Medical Centre of the University.
• He/She is also responsible for coordinating the treatment of members of staff and their families as well as the students of the University.

Requirements

• Prospective candidates should possess M.B.B.S., B.D.S. or equivalent medical degree plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption.
• Candidates must have SSCE/NECO/WASSC/GCE O'Level credit in five (5) subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
• Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or its equivalent is compulsory.
• A higher degree will be an advantage. In addition, he/she must be duly registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and have a minimum of fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience in clinical medicine and public health work in comparable health institution.
• Applicants must be ICT compliant. Candidates should not be older than Sixty (60) years on assumption of duty.

Tenure:

• The successful candidate shall hold office for a period of five (5) years from the effective date of appointment with additional one (1) year subject to satisfactory performance as may be determined by appropriate University Laws and the Governing Council of the Federal University e Otuoke.

Conditions of Service

• The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Director, Health Services of Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the University Governing Council.
• Some of the conditions of service are stipulated in the of Regulations Governing the Conditions of Service of Senior members of staff in the Federal University Otuoke.
