Job Description
Purpose of the Role:
To lead and oversee all aspects of factory operations in the production of chocolate pops and cubes, ensuring efficient, hygienic, and cost-effective manufacturing that meets quality and safety standards.
The Factory Head is responsible for production planning, process optimization, workforce management, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management:
Supervise daily production of chocolate pops and cubes to meet volume and quality targets.
Develop and execute production plans based on demand forecasts.
Ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
Process Optimization:
Streamline manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain product consistency.
Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Monitor process parameters, temperature control, cooling, molding, and packaging operations.
Quality Assurance:
Enforce strict adherence to product quality standards, GMP, and food safety norms.
Collaborate with QA/QC teams to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with food safety certifications (e.g., ISO 22000, HACCP).
People & Resource Management:
Manage and train production supervisors, machine operators, packaging staff, and support teams.
Set and monitor performance KPIs; conduct regular evaluations and team meetings.
Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning.
Maintenance Oversight:
Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment (chocolate mixers, tempering machines, depositors, molds, flow-wrappers, etc.).
Minimize downtime and ensure smooth operation across shifts.
Inventory & Cost Control:
Monitor usage of ingredients (e.g., cocoa, sugar, dairy), packaging materials, and utilities.
Work with procurement and finance to maintain optimal stock levels and control costs.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure full compliance with regulatory bodies (NAFDAC, SON, etc.).
Maintain complete production, maintenance, and quality records for audits and inspections.
Job Specification
Education:
B.Sc./B.Tech in Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
Certifications in Food Safety, GMP, HACCP – preferred.
Experience:
8–10 years in a food processing or confectionery production role.
At least 3–5 years in a plant management or factory head capacity.
Hands-on experience with chocolate or confectionery products is highly desirable.
Ability to manage multi-shift operations and diverse teams.
Familiarity with automated confectionery equipment and control systems.
Expertise in lean manufacturing, production planning, and OEE tracking.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Odoo, or similar).
