Job Title: Legal and Compliance Manager
Location: Ajah, Lagos

Job Summary
The Legal and Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all legal and regulatory affairs of the company, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing the real estate sector in Nigeria.
The role includes managing legal risks, providing strategic legal advice, overseeing contract management, ensuring corporate governance, and driving internal compliance programs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide sound legal advice to management and departments on all business transactions and operational matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents including land acquisition agreements, joint venture agreements, lease agreements, service contracts, MOUs, and other real estate-related documentation.
Handle legal due diligence on land/property titles and documentation.
Ensure proper registration and documentation of title documents (e.g., Deeds of Assignment, Governor’s Consent, Certificate of Occupancy).
Develop and implement internal compliance policies and controls to ensure a culture of ethical conduct.
Ensure proper corporate governance structures and processes are in place and adhered to.
Organize and maintain board documentation and ensure proper minute-taking during meetings.
Identify potential legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Maintain up-to-date corporate records, resolutions, and filings with CAC.
Provide legal support to HR on employment and disciplinary issues.
Train and educate staff on relevant legal and compliance issues (e.g., anti-money laundering, data protection, contract management).
Foster a company-wide compliance culture through regular communication and workshops.
Qualifications and Experience
LL.B and B.L from a recognized institution (a Master's degree or additional certifications in real estate law or compliance is an advantage).
Minimum of 7 years of post-call legal experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the real estate or related sector.
Strong understanding of Nigerian property law, land acquisition processes, and real estate regulatory frameworks.
Member of ACSAN is an added advantage
Proven experience in managing compliance programs and legal risk.
Demonstrated ability to interface with external legal counsel, regulators, and government agencies.
Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills.

Salary
N300,000 - N350,000 / Month.
