Alliance Française is a local non-profit organisation led by an elected committee of members and an executive director, with the support of the Embassy of France in Nigeria. We teach French to adults and children, we are centres for official French exams and we organise cultural activities promoting local and francophone cultures.

Synthetic Description of the Position
Under the responsibility of the Board of Directors (CA) of the French’Alliance (AF) of Lagos, and under the authority of the cooperation and cultural action advisor (COCAC), you are responsible for the execution of the project of’establishment, the proper functioning and development of the’Alliance as well as the follow-up of all the actions that are carried out there, in compliance with local laws.
You regularly work with the (SCAC) cultural cooperation and action service, and especially with the Abuja-based cultural attache and the Lagos-based regional audiovisual attache.
Three months after taking up your post, you will be given your mission letter. No later than six months after taking office, you will be required to submit a proposed establishment and a plan of action'action submitted to the approval of the board of’ and targeted by the Embassy, which will cover the duration of your mission.
Main Activities
L’French Alliance of Lagos (AFL) is a leading cultural center on the continent located in a central and attractive area, with two locations in the city of Lagos (in Ikeja and Ikoyi). Its premises include 9 classrooms, 1 cinema, 1 gallery, 1 media library, 1 restaurant, etc, that allow the reception of 2,000 learners and more than 300 cultural events attended by about 50,000 people. In this context, you will have to organize regular meetings with the CA, organize the’ Ordinary General Assembly and ensure the democratic life of the’ by regularly renewing the members of the CA.
You will also need to ensure : preparation of the annual budget ; - the’animation of the team of management and team management, young and motivated :accompaniment of the or the future manager of’antane to accompany its development ) - the supervision of the buildings of the’implantation of’Ikoyi with its various teams in charge of security, parking, Eric Kayser franchise, maintenance, cleaning.
This activity involves a very regular relationship with the representative of the patron who owns the building ; - monitoring of the pedagogy of the center in synergy with the direction of courses and exams (deputy director) ; - the management and development of private financing, technical and media partnerships and institutional relations ; - the development and monitoring of the cultural programming policy based on the annual’ call for projects campaign, and,partnerships with Nigerian and pan-African cultural actors and actions carried out in coordination with the French cultural network in Nigeria ; - monitoring of the media library ; active participation in the network of French alliances in Nigeria.
Diplomas or Professional Experience Recommended to Perform the Duties
Master 2 or equivalent. Proven experience in the management of’a public or private institution in cultural institutions.
Manager skills in a very business environment. Good writing skills, in french and english, and ability to communicate in public.
Knowledge, a taste for teamwork, loyalty and a sense of common interest. Knowledge or mastery of’a local language would be an asset.
