Job Title: Meter Electrician
Location: Jos, Plateau
Employment Type: Full-time
Purpose of the Job
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electric meters to ensure accurate energy measurement and billing.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Meter Electrician shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:
Install, calibrate, test, and maintain electricity meters (single-phase, three-phase, smart meters, and advanced metering infrastructure systems).
Troubleshoot, repair, or replace faulty meters to ensure uninterrupted and accurate electricity measurement.
Conduct routine maintenance on metering systems and components to ensure optimal performance.
Perform periodic testing and calibration of meters to maintain compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
Upload metering data to centralized systems and maintain records of meter installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
Ensure all meter-related activities comply with regulatory standards, codes, and company policies.
Maintain proper documentation of metering work and ensure accurate reporting of activities.
Interact with customers during meter installations or repairs to provide information about metering systems and address customer inquiries.
Investigate customer complaints related to metering issues and provide resolutions.
Assist in integrating metering systems with the overall energy management system.
Adhere to safety protocols and standards while handling electrical metering systems.
Conduct risk assessments before initiating any work on metering equipment and report potential hazards.
Ensure metering systems are aligned with protection and control systems to enhance operational reliability.
Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Protection Control & Metering Supervisor.
Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Protection Control & Metering Supervisor.
Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge
Diploma or Technical Certification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical installation, metering systems, or related fields.
Experience with smart meters, AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), or prepaid metering systems is an Advantage.
